2.Bible Story — Jesus Enters Jerusalem

Matthew 21:1–11

A long time ago, God promised that He would send a Savior to help people and bring them back to God. That Savior was Jesus.

Jesus is God’s Son, and He came to show people God’s love, forgive sins, and save the world.

One day, Jesus was traveling to the city of Jerusalem. This was a very important moment, because soon Jesus would give His life on the cross and rise again to save us.

When Jesus came near the city, He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. Long before this happened, the Bible had said the promised King would come this way.

Many people in the city heard that Jesus was coming. They were excited because they believed He was the Savior God promised.

Crowds gathered along the road. They laid their coats on the ground and waved palm branches in the air. They shouted with joy:

“Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”

The people were celebrating because they believed Jesus was the King sent by God.

Jesus did not come as a king with soldiers or a crown of gold.
He came as a humble and loving King who came to save people.

That is why this day is called Palm Sunday.

It reminds us that Jesus is the Savior who came to rescue us and bring us peace.

3.Heart Connection teaching (5 minutes)

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, He did something surprising.

Kings usually ride big horses and arrive with soldiers and power.
But Jesus chose to ride a simple donkey.

Why?

Because Jesus did not come to show how powerful He was.
He came to show how loving and humble He is.

Jesus wanted people to know something very important:

He is not a King who is far away or unreachable.

He is a King who comes close to us.

Jesus understands our hearts, our struggles, and our lives.
He came gently so everyone — children, families, and ordinary people — would know they could come to Him.

And the same is true today.

Jesus came for every person — including you and me.

When we trust Jesus, we welcome Him into our hearts as our King.
