1. Welcome, Opening Prayer & Worship (5 Minutes)

Teacher Welcome Script

“Good morning, friends! I’m so happy you’re here today!

Have you ever been asked to do something you didn’t really want to do?

Maybe clean your room… share a toy… or tell the truth?

Today we’re going to learn about a very special moment when Jesus chose to obey — and how God was very happy because of it.”

Opening Prayer (Repeat After Me)

Dear God,
Thank You for loving me.
Teach me today.
Help me understand baptism.
Help me obey You
In small things
And big things.
Amen.

Worship Songs

• Jesus Loves Me – Hug yourself
• I Will Follow Jesus – March in place and point upward

2. Object Lesson: What Is Baptism? (5 Minutes)

Materials:
• Clear cup of water
• Small rock or coin

Say:

“Baptism is when someone goes under water and comes back up again.

The water does not wash away sin — only Jesus can forgive sin.

Baptism is a sign. It shows everyone that you belong to Jesus.”

Drop the rock into the water.

“When someone goes under the water, it reminds us that Jesus died and was buried.

When they come back up, it reminds us that Jesus came back to life!

Baptism shows:
‘I believe in Jesus. I want to follow Him.’”

Explain clearly:

• Baptism is not magic.
• Baptism does not save us.
• Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change.

Simple definition for kids:

“When you believe in Jesus in your heart, baptism shows it on the outside.”

3. Bible Story (10 Minutes)

Jesus walked to the Jordan River where John the Baptist was baptizing people.

John baptized people who were turning away from sin and turning toward God.

When Jesus came to John, He asked to be baptized.

John was surprised.
He said, “I need You to baptize me!”

But Jesus said it was right to do this.

Did Jesus have sin?
No.

So why was He baptized?

• To obey His Father
• To show us what to do
• To begin His ministry

When Jesus came up out of the water, something amazing happened.

The sky opened.
The Spirit of God came down like a dove.
And a voice from heaven said:

“This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.”

Now let’s understand that word.

“Pleased” means very happy and proud.

God was very happy with Jesus because Jesus obeyed Him.

And when we obey God, it makes Him very happy too.

4. Heart Connection Moment (5 Minutes)

(Soft voice.)

Baptism is a beautiful step of obedience.

Maybe you’ve seen someone get baptized at church.
Maybe one day you will choose to be baptized too.

But remember — what makes God happiest is not just the water.

What makes Him very happy is a heart that trusts Him.

Sometimes obedience feels hard.

Maybe you know the right thing to do…
but you don’t feel like doing it.

Once there was a little girl who didn’t want to apologize to her friend. She felt embarrassed. She didn’t want to admit she was wrong.

But she prayed and asked God for courage.

When she obeyed and said sorry, something changed inside her.

She felt peace.

Obedience brings peace.

Jesus obeyed the Father when He was baptized.
And God said He was very happy and proud.

God is very happy and proud when we obey too — not because we are perfect, but because we trust Him.

Close your eyes for a moment.

Is there something God wants you to do?

Maybe forgive someone…
Tell the truth…
Listen to your parents…
Be kind at school…
