Theme: God’s Protection and Courage

Bible Text

Psalm 91:1–2

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”

Time: 30–40 minutes

1. Opening & Welcome (5 min)

Prayer:
“Dear Lord, thank You for always being with us. Even when things around us seem scary, help us remember that You are stronger and You protect us. Amen.”

Song Suggestion:
“Be Strong and Courageous” or “My God Is So Big”
Use fun hand motions — show muscles for “strong,” stretch arms for “so big!”

2. Bible Story: Daniel in the Lions’ Den (10–12 min)

Text: Daniel 6

Story Summary:

  • Daniel prayed every day because he loved God.

  • Jealous men made a law that no one could pray to God.

  • Daniel kept praying anyway — he trusted God.

  • He was thrown into the lions’ den, but God sent an angel to protect him!

  • In the morning, Daniel was safe — God kept him from harm.

Key Lesson:
When we trust and obey God, He protects us — even when things look scary.

3. Discussion & Application (8–10 min)

Ask:

  • Was Daniel afraid?

  • What did he do when others told him not to pray?

  • What should you do when you’re scared?

Teach:

  • When you feel afraid — pray!

  • When things seem scary — remember God is bigger!

  • When people make fun of your faith — stand strong like Daniel!

4. Craft: “God Is My Protector” Shield (10–15 min)

Materials:

  • Paper plates or cardstock (shield shape)

  • Markers, crayons

  • Aluminum foil (optional, for shine)

  • Glue/tape

  • Craft stick (handle)

5. Memory Verse (5 min)

Psalm 56:3

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.”

Add motions:

  • “When I am afraid” – hands on cheeks

  • “I put my trust” – clasp hands together

  • “In You” – point up

6. Weekly Challenge

During the week, if you feel scared (in the dark, alone, or at night), say:

“God is with me — I don’t have to be afraid!”

Tell your parents about Daniel and how God protected him.

7. Closing Prayer

“Father, thank You for protecting me like You protected Daniel. Help me be brave, to pray, and to trust You always. Amen.”

Optional Game: “Lions’ Den”

  • One child is Daniel; others are lions.

  • The lions surround Daniel but cannot touch him — because God’s angel is protecting him!

  • Switch roles so everyone gets a turn.

8. Final Questions & Review (5 minutes)

Ask the kids to recall and answer:

  1. Who was thrown into the lions’ den?

  2. Why did Daniel get in trouble?

  3. What did Daniel do when he was afraid?

  4. Who protected Daniel from the lions?

  5. What does Psalm 91:2 tell us about God?

  6. What should you do when you feel afraid?

  7. Can you say the memory verse (Psalm 56:3)?

Encourage children to give examples of when they trusted God or felt His protection.

9. Final Result (Teacher’s Expectation)

By the end of the class, students should be able to:

  • Retell the story of Daniel in the lions’ den with understanding.

  • Explain that God protects those who trust and obey Him.

  • Recite the memory verse with confidence.

  • Apply the message by saying, “God is with me, I don’t have to be afraid.”

  • Show understanding through their decorated “Protector Shield” craft, expressing trust in God.
