How to Make the Elijah Flame Mosaic Craft
Step 1: Prepare Your Template
Print the Flame Mosaic template on white cardstock.
Have children color the words THE LORD IS GOD! in the center of their flame, then carefully cut around the outer flame outline.

Step 2: Prepare Your Paper
Cut or tear red, orange, and yellow construction paper into small pieces.
For the optional fluffy version, prepare small squares of tissue paper instead.
Step 3: Decorate Your Flame
Choose your favorite style!
Option A — Traditional Flame Mosaic
Glue the colorful construction paper pieces inside the flame outline, mixing the three colors to create a bright mosaic effect.
Option B — Fluffy Tissue Paper Flame
Gently crumple small tissue paper squares into little balls and glue them onto the flame.
Mix red, orange, and yellow to create a fun, textured 3D effect.
For either version, leave the words in the center uncovered so children can clearly read the message.

Step 4: Let It Dry
Allow the glue to dry completely.
Your Elijah Flame Mosaic is ready!
As children admire their finished crafts, remind them of the powerful truth behind the words:
THE LORD IS GOD!

Teaching Connection: The Lord Is God!
Read: 1 Kings 18:20–39
Elijah stood before the people of Israel and challenged them to decide whom they would follow: the Lord or Baal.
The prophets of Baal called upon their god, but no one answered.
Then Elijah repaired the altar of the Lord, prepared the sacrifice, and had water poured over the offering and the wood.
When Elijah prayed, God answered by sending fire that consumed the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the dust, and even the water in the trench!
When the people saw what happened, they fell on their faces and declared:
"The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God." — 1 Kings 18:39 (KJV)
Connect the Craft to Their Hearts
As children work on their colorful flames, remind them:
"The fire in our craft reminds us of how God answered Elijah's prayer. The people saw that the Lord alone is God. We can choose to follow Him every day, even when others make different choices."
Ask the children:
Who answered Elijah's prayer? (The Lord.)
What happened when Elijah prayed? (God sent fire.)
Who is the one true God? (The Lord.)
Today's reminder: I can choose to follow God!
A Little Classroom Tip
Teaching different ages together? A little preparation makes this activity much easier!
Ages 3–5: Prepare larger paper pieces ahead of time and help younger children with cutting.
Ages 6–10: Let older children tear or cut their own paper and experiment with different mosaic patterns.
Keep the red, orange, and yellow pieces in separate containers so children can easily share supplies.
While everyone is gluing, use the time to review Elijah's story together.
